Short and simple today, I wanted something that I could quickly produce but still was from the heart. That is why I decided to go with MDS today. Here is my creation:

Thank you for joining us for the Pals Halloween Blog Hop. We hope you enjoy our virtual trick-or treat hop where you will either learn great tricks for your creative projects or enjoy a blog candy treat. You should have just left stop number 24 on the Pals Hop - Sandra Conner at Pretty Provisions. If so, you are in the right spot. If you get off track, the full blog lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.
My project this month is a Halloween 3D project, a sign using the Witches' Brew Designer Series Paper and the Halloween Bash stamp set. I had been searching the Internet for ideas and love the block look with little sayings popping up in home decor. I took that idea and make my little block sign with a 5x5 canvas that I had in my craft stash. I think this would look great on a Halloween party buffet table next to the drinks. I also used the Black and Orange Stampin' Glitter, Decorative Label Punch, Scallop Oval Punch (would be great here but I had to fussy cut since I don't own it yet LOL), Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, and Elegant Eggplant markers were used to color the print on the paper, silver glitter paper, vanilla smooches, some google eyes I had left over from last year's Halloween line, and the WONDERFUL WASHI tape! :) I also used the sponge daubers to add Basic Black ink to the sides of the canvas and to distress the paper on the front. As for the back, you could cover it as well with some Basic Black cardstock to have it stand on a table, or leave it open to hang on a wall.
For this month's Trick or Treat, I choose Treat!! So, please comment below and someone will be randomly picked (by random.org) from the commenters below to win this sign along with 4 cute little treat holders:
The treat holders can hold little snack bags of candy, be made into a gift card holder or card, or use it as an embellishment for a scrapbook and put a photo inside it. This is the old tried and true matchbook design where the flap tucks in to the little front fold. I love making these, they're so easy!
To enter, please leave me a comment about what you like about the project or something you are looking forward to creating this holiday season. Comments will be accepted until Monday 10/14 at 5p.m. Pacific. Winner will be announced at noon Pacific on 10/15. US Mailing addresses only please. Winner must email me ASAP and no later than 10/22 otherwise that person will have to forfeit and I'll have to pick another winner.
Thanks for stopping by! Keep on crafting!

This is my busy time of year, in fact as this posts we're getting ready for our summer family trip! So, I decided that I need to get back online and participate but the only way it would happen this month is if I Kept It Simple. And so, as I dug through my new catalog goodies and the beautiful combinations of the new In Color Inks... I decided to make these two little cards quick and easy.

For my project this month, I've chosen to make something out of recycled material. In this case a cardboard cylinder that held a soft drink mix:
My daughter really needed something to organize all her hair things, and one day while going through Pinterest I found the cutest idea to make a headband holder (it also holds barrettes and scrunchies inside)! So, here is my interpretation of that project:
For my headband/scrunchie holder I used the following:
1. "Warehouse sized" soft drink mix container
2. Designer series paper pack: Brights collection (117155) - Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo, and Tempting Turquoise
3. Paper Mache medium
4. Wooden balls for feet and handle
5. Brights Collection Classic Stampin' Ink Refills (119698)- Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo, and Tempting Turquoise
6. Rhinestone basic jewels (119246)
7. Hot glue
9. Heavy duty adhesive to adhere wood items
10. Coordinating 1/4" ribbon
I adhered the paper to the container with paper mache adhesive. And, while that dried, I painted the wooden balls with a mixture of the adhesive AND drops of the Classic Stampin' Ink! Yes, I learned (from the wonderful Stampin' Success magazine that we consultants receive) that you can add ink to acrylic paint to make custom paint colors for a variety of projects (more to come from me later on this). But, at the time of this project I couldn't find my white paint. So, in the spririt of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle I repurposed the adhesive and experimented with adding drops of the ink to it. And lo' and behold my daughter and I LOVED the glossy effect we got from it for the wooden knob.
After everything was dry, we added the wooden bead as a handle on top (wooden bead feet will be added later and photo posted, ink was still drying - UPDATE - see new photo below), added touches of ribbon and bling with the rhinestones and voila! a hair accessory holder is born.
UPDATE: Here is the final product WITH the little foot beads:
Come back tomorrow and I'll show you how I made these wood beads with the marble look for our container. My kids are loving them!
I love my earth day project! I hope you do too!
Happy Crafting!
Carmen :)
