Welcome to the April PALS HOP! This month, we're featuring Wonderful Wedding and Mother's Day projects for your inspiration! You've arrived at the first stop on your tour! I'm stop number 1 on the PALS HOP and I'm glad you hopped in! I'll help you "hop along" from blog to blog where you'll find great ideas for paper crafted creations from the Stampin' Pretty Pals! Should you hop off course, simply click on any of the links in the PALS HOP LINE-UP below and you'll be back on track!
Since spring is in the air and that ties in with love and romance I decided to choose the wedding theme for this month's blog hop. Although it's been quite a while since I made my own wedding invitations, I found it quite fun to see what's new and hip for the spring/summer bride this year. Particularly, the color combinations.
On my search, I found that bright, cheery colors are much in vogue right now. My eyes were automatically drawn to one beautiful color combination that I saw stand out in many images I searched in Google Images: pink, orange, and yellow. In my Stampin' Up! translation: Melon Mambo, Pumpin Pie, and Daffodil Delight. All of which are found in the BRIGHTS collection of Stampin' Up! colors!!
The front of the card is embossed and adorned with my interpretation of a cheery Gerber Daisy. The front is simply "tied" with a ribbon of Pumpkin Pie Paper.
Upon first glance, you'd never know this was a "hybrid" card. One that uses both real mediums and digital mediums. But, when you open the card you'll find that it's completed with a My Digital Studio design for the wedding invitation details.
Inside, I used the same color combination and tiled "punched" squares of designer paper and cardstock to make the border at the bottom, added a digital ribbon, and "stamped" flowers that match my daisy at 40% opacity to make a watermarked/vellum look behind the wording for the invitation. Finally, I matted the printed paper with the three colors again for a nice finish. Here's my recipe:
-
Cardstock: Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, and Pumpkin Pie
-
Embossing: Big Shot's Textured Impressions Embossing Folder in Elegant Lines (119277)
-
Die Cut: Big Shot (113439) and Flower, Daisies #2 (114520)
-
Embellishments: Brights collection of Designer Buttons (119747) and Basic Rhinestones (119246)
-
Adhesives: SNAIL Adhesive (104332) and Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)
-
My Digital Studio: Baroque Motifs Brushed Stamp set - small flower, Dotted stripes designer paper in Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight Cardstock, 1.25 square punch, Melon Mambo grosgrain ribbon
I hope you enjoyed my hop stop! I appreciate your comments and take them to heart. Thanks in advance for your time to write about the card. Also, please come back tomorrow to see a matching bridesmaid's gift holder and thank you card for all the goodies the bride and groom will receive at the wedding. OH! And tomorrow I will start my first BLOG CANDY contest! Come on back for all the details.
